1.0 Purpose:
Assist Maintenance Supervisor/Sponsor with managing the daily activities of assigned area to ensure safe, effective, efficient, continuous plant operation through maintenance and repair of area facilities and equipment.

Scope:
- This position reports to the area Maintenance Supervisor/Sponsor.
- The Maintenance Crew Technician assists the Maintenance Supervisor/Sponsor in managing the maintenance efforts for assigned crew areas. In addition to performing the normal duties of a craftsperson, the technician is also involved in supporting the crew in areas such as EHS, reliability, training, problem solving, crew budget and costs control, warehouse inventory and others as assigned. The technician assists in job planning, troubleshooting, reviewing suggestions, updating prints, tracking projects, collecting and analyzing data.
- A key element of the technician's role is to be self-initiated and to follow-up on assignments.
- Five years of industrial maintenance experience (Mt. Holly preferred).
- High school, vocational school diploma, or equal.
- Working knowledge of computers and CMMS.
- Good human relations skills.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure that EHS is a number one priority by adhering to the plant's safety and environmental objectives by attending weekly safety meetings, daily toolbox meetings, monthly review of the "SAFE Comment Report", Risk Notification (1) per quarter, lead crew's effort to complete troubleshooting HARM cards and complete all regulatory training as required. Insist that all safety rules are followed. Evidence of this will be the TRIF at goal or less and the achievement of no Lost-Time Accidents.
- Perform the duties of a Machinist, Mechanic, or an Electrician.
- Perform all assignments given by the supervisor, i. e.; assist the planner in job planning, perform duties as a "troubleshooter," work with Engineers in making changes/modifications for improvements, etc.
- Assist supervisor in administering EHS program.
- Assist supervisor in formulating and tracking crew costs and budget.
- Assist with Help Chain: Technician takes the 1st calls from shift personel per Help Chain call of Command.
- Assist supervisor in managing crew warehouse parts.
- Assist supervisor in training of crew members and apprentices.
- Assist supervisor in reviewing suggestions and recommendations from crew members.
- Assist supervisor in data collection and analysis of graphs and trends on crew activity.
- Actively participate in area problem solving and actively participate in the reliability process.
- Assist supervisor in application of ABS principles.
- Ensure changes are made to update prints, manuals and procedures.
- Fill-in for the supervisor when absent and attend DMS board meeting as required.
- Assist with capital projects in the assigned crew area.
- Assist supervisor in coordinating work with production departments in the assigned crew area.
- Work the day shift, but shares responsibility with other crew members for covering
non-day shift requirements, i. e. extended overhauls, special jobs, etc. The technician will be excluded from filling in for shift coverage as long as there is adequate manning to cover shift relief.
- Assist crew with CMMS.
- Write SOPs
- Provide daily information to upper management.
- Supply input and assist with writing period reports.
- Enter DTI's as necessary.
- Perform shop clean-up and maintain 5S status.
- May be required to remain on plantsite during various phases of tropical cyclone preparedness as per SOP-0891.
- Be an information source for respective areas.
- Be available for travel if needed.
- Update crew boards and A3's.
- Assist with crew and apprentice evaluations.
- Communicate environmental, safety incidents, and major breakdowns to supervisor and General Supervisor immediately.
- Participate in, or lead reliability inititives, FAT's, ERT's, and PRT's as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position requires awareness of the Mt. Holly Environmental Policy, Mt. Holly Waste Minimization/Pollution Prevention Policies and Mt. Holly Environment, Health and Safety Policy/Principles. Incumbent must be knowledgeable of the environmental aspects of processes, activities and services in job area and appropriate measures to control impact on the
environment.
Support plant policies for waste minimization and pollution prevention by conformance to plant policies on waste minimization, taking standard environmental control measures when performing work and supporting department environmental objectives and plant environmental goals.
