Century Aluminum Company (CENTURY) is engaged in producing aluminum. The Company’s primary aluminum capacity includes the facility in Grundartangi, Iceland (GRUNDARTANGI) with a capacity of 260,000 metric tons per year; its facility in Hawesville, Kentucky (HAWESVILLE) with a capacity of 244,000 metric tons per year; its facility in Ravenswood, West Virginia (RAVENSWOOD), curtailed, with a capacity of 170,000 metric tons per year; and a 49.7% interest in a facility in Mt. Holly, South Carolina (MT. HOLLY), which provides it with a capacity of 111,000 metric tons per year. During the year ended December 31, 2011, the Company’s production capacity was 785,000 metric tons per year and produced approximately 602,000 metric tons of primary aluminum. In June 2013, the Company announced that its wholly owned subsidiary has completed the transaction with Rio Tinto Alcan, Inc. to acquire substantially all of the assets of the Sebree aluminum smelter.
