Volvo Cars is seeking a Paint Repair Technician to support our automobile manufacturing operations at our Ridgeville, South Carolina (Charleston Metropolitan area).
The Paint Repair Technician carries out spot repairs (partial surface repair/coating) including painting complete panels at the paint hospital in C shop and spot repair area in B shop
Responsibilities:
- Prep, paint, and polish bodies to be shipped to assembly and/or ready cars to be shipped to customer.
- Adhere to painting standards such as: inspect, detect, classify, and determine correct painting procedure for the repair.
- Must possess broad knowledge of paint, chemical, and coating procedure.
- Basic hand and power tool familiarity.
- Prepare the workplace for daily activities and keep 5s standards.
- Perform visual inspection for completeness and proper execution of standards and record completion into ATACQ system.
- Monitor production flow and minimize repair WIP.
Minimal Requirements:
- Must be able to demonstrate expertise for painting, by education background or experience.
- Light paint touch-up/finesse expertise.
- Paint shop experience preferred.
- Previous automotive paint experience is highly desired.
Special Qualifications:
- ASE Certification. Certification from a documented Trade School, Certification from an actual Paint Supplier (Ex: PPG) or have at least 3 years of verifiable paint experience with a Documented Paint & Body Shop.
- 3 years Experienced with Paint Booths that have the Down Draft System.
- Certified or 3 years’ experience Mixing Paint.
- Documented Training or 3 years’ experience for both Environmental and Safety Training involving all Chemical disposals with paint related materials.
- All candidates will be required to complete an in-person skills assessment.
