Job Responsibilities
The Truck Driver Adjunct Training instructor will work with minimal instruction/supervision within the guidelines established by the Program Coordinator. The duties will include providing theory, range and driving instruction to students, inspecting and maintaining school vehicles and equipment, maintaining student training records, and ensuring students adhere to the Trident Technical College’s CDL safety
Minimum and Additional Requirements
This position requires an associate degree in transportation management or business technology or a closely related field plus a minimum of three (3) years proven behind-the-wheel truck driving experience or a high school diploma and ten (10) years of proven behind-the-wheel truck driving experience to include training and assisting students in developing the skills necessary to obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). A maximum of 5 years of class “A” driver trainer experience may be counted toward the 10 years driving requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
All applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; hold a valid Class “A” South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License with all necessary endorsements for the motor vehicle equipment being operated; have at least three (3) years of behind-the-wheel truck driving experience and have logged at least 100,000 miles of over-the-road truck driving; or have completed a certified truck driver training school. Each applicant must provide a certified SLED criminal background check, have a clean driving record, possess a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification and a drug screen is required. In addition to all the South Carolina Code of Regulations, Chapter 90, Article 2, Truck Driver Schools.
