Job Responsibilities

The BRC Instructor position primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Teaching in-person curricula in accordance with Motorcycle Safety Foundation and State Tech guidelines and conducting classroom instruction & range (riding) coaching
  • Maintaining and completing appropriate course documentation that includes preparing DMV documentation for students
  • Coordinating course scheduling with the Program Coordinator 
  • Maintaining motorcycle upkeep and facilities to include Pre-ride (T-CLOCS) check and related light motorcycle maintenance
 
Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires current certification by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to teach the BRC and/or BRCu.  Instructors will also teach courses in the evenings and weekends. Also required are a clean driving record and SLED background check. SC Residency is required to conduct SCDMV Riding Skills Test Waiver. Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. Instructors may require additional rider courses and instructor training, pass written and riding skills evaluations, and other assessments. 

Preferred Qualifications


Candidates must have the ability to:

  •  Lifting 50 lbs. or more
  •  Pushing  motorcycles by hand 
  •  Lifting a fallen motorcycle to an upright position 
  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions 
  •  Learning procedures, policies, and practices and apply them appropriately in all  situations
  •  Assessing and evaluating students and adapting coaching techniques to obtain the desired result
  • Ensuring positive customer service interaction at all times
  • Exceptional communication skills in presenting information in group settings, and coaching-one-on-one
  • Strong critical thinking skills, mental alertness, and adaptability
