Job Responsibilities

  • Assist and oversee collection of STG information from inmates.
  • Share intelligence with STG staff throughout the agency.
  • Disseminate Intelligence to supervisory staff.
  • Assist with surveillance of potential threat areas.
  • Supervise assigned STG officers to ensure Monitoring of individuals of concern and policy adherence.
  • Coordinate with institutional STG committees.
  • Gather STG-related evidence and intelligence.
  • Monitor STG populations within institutions.
  • Represent the Statewide STG Coordinator at STG member designation hearings.
  • Assist with inmate STG status evaluations.
  • Make unannounced rounds to institutions to ensure procedural compliance and timelines are met by intelligence staff.
  • Assist with duties assigned by the Statewide STG Coordinator.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.

  • A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.

  • Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
