The Department Head for Network Systems Management and Cybersecurity provides academic leadership for instructional programs within the Business Technology Division. This position combines teaching, curriculum development, faculty supervision, student advising, and program administration to support student success, workforce readiness, and academic excellence. The Department Head works collaboratively with faculty, staff, industry partners, and community stakeholders to ensure programs remain current, relevant, and aligned with workforce and transfer needs.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teach courses in Network Systems Management, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, and related disciplines using traditional, hybrid, online, and other instructional delivery methods. Create and maintain an engaging learning environment that promotes student success and achievement.
• Provide leadership for academic programs by evaluating, revising, and developing curriculum, courses, and instructional materials that reflect industry standards, emerging technologies, and workforce needs.
• Promote teaching and learning excellence through assessment of student success data, course evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance student outcomes.
• Supervise and evaluate faculty and other assigned personnel. Assist with recruitment, selection, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management while fostering a collaborative, student-centered departmental culture.
• Advise and mentor students regarding academic planning, program requirements, career pathways, transfer opportunities, and employment options. Support student recruitment, retention, completion, and job placement efforts.
• Ensure timely completion of departmental reports, accreditation requirements, assessment activities, scheduling processes, and other administrative functions.
• Build and maintain relationships with employers, advisory committees, industry partners, professional organizations, and community stakeholders to support program growth, workforce development, and student opportunities.
• Participate in college committees, institutional initiatives, community outreach activities, and professional development opportunities that support the mission and goals of the College.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Technical certifications such as Security+, Network+, A+, Linux+, Red Hat, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CyberOps, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft certifications, or related industry credentials.
• Experience teaching in higher education, technical education, workforce training, or related instructional environments.
• Experience in Network Systems Management, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, cloud technologies, systems administration, or related information technology fields.
• Experience supervising faculty, staff, or technical teams.
• Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Active participation in professional organizations, workforce development initiatives, advisory committees, or industry partnerships.
• Proficiency with instructional and administrative technologies, including Ellucian Colleague, D2L, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Excellent communication, organizational, customer service, and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
• Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, and best practices in higher education and information technology.
