Job Responsibilities

Perform required maintenance in the preservation, renovation, and painting of the museum's displays, exhibits, and tour routes. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • As a working crew leader, you must ensure the timely completion of work. Plans, assigns personnel, assists, prioritizes, and acts as job-site supervisor for painting and preserving the ships, buildings and other structures owned by the Patriots Point Development Authority.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies to accomplish work assigned. Occasionally is required to oversee contractors performing construction and special projects for the museum. Manages the proper handling and storage of hazardous and flammable material. Supervises all rigging and scaffolding operations for painters.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental regulations as required by the Agency.
  • Employee may be required to work after normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, emergencies and/or special events. Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned to accomplish the mission of the Agency.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and trade experience directly related to the area of employment.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a thorough knowledge of marine preservation and painting using various coatings and techniques for application. The knowledge, skills and ability to perform the required tasks could be obtained through on-the-job experience. The position requires rigorous physical activity in a shipboard working environment. Must be capable of climbing vertical ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and walking long distances in a single workday. Must be motivated to perform high-quality work. Semi-annual travel to other museums/attractions may be required. Safety must be the employee's number one concern at all times.
