Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, this position serves as a key resource for students in the English, Speech, and Journalism programs. This role operates in a student-centered academic environment and is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, and supporting student success. The position exercises independent judgment in instructional design, student evaluation, and advising while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and maintaining excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver speech/communication courses across in-person, online, and dual enrollment formats; create an engaging, inclusive learning environment aligned with course objectives and real-world application.
- Develop and update curriculum, syllabi, and instructional materials; apply best practices and assessment data to improve student outcomes.
- Assess student performance; provide academic advising and referrals; support student success, retention, and recruitment efforts.
- Partner with faculty and staff; contribute to committees, departmental initiatives, and community engagement.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and use feedback and data to continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
- Maintain office hours; teach across multiple campuses and modalities; adapt to evolving technologies and instructional needs.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- Master’s degree in speech/communication or a closely related field, or a master’s degree in any field with 18 or more graduate hours in speech/communication.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in higher education, dual enrollment, or online learning environments, with the ability to adapt instruction for diverse student populations in a high-volume, student-focused setting.
Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office applications; experience using data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an academic team, manage multiple responsibilities, and respond flexibly to changing instructional and scheduling needs.
Ability to teach across multiple locations and modalities, including travel between campuses, as well as willingness to support evening, weekend, or nontraditional course offerings.
