Project Intern

SUMMARY
A Construction Intern will be exposed to all aspects of the construction process in the field. Throughout the internship period, the Intern will contribute to the TEAM BUILD approach to achieve ultimate satisfaction form our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General
- Ensure client satisfaction / Ensure “Extreme Customer Focus”
- Assist Project Managers, Pre-Construction Managers, Superintendents, Project Executives, and Business Development/Marketing Department with their duties and familiarize themselves with company expectations for these positions
- Learn processes and project communication skills
- Learn to function as part of the team - stay in touch with field progress
- Participate in company initiatives, committees, and continuing education
- Work toward continuous quality improvement
- Stay current with changing technology, including software programs
- Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures
- Promote and adhere to safety requirements
- Develop positive, meaningful industry relationships
- Assist in pre-planning activities
Project Specific
- Identify conflicts with the project team
- Facilitate Subcontractor Trade Sequencing
- Review RFI’s and update drawings and team
- Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity counts
- Perform quality control reviews and complete documentation
- Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, fiber cement or drywall.
- Apply knowledge learned in degree program to field activities
- Participate in industry intern events in the Charleston area
- Other duties and tasks as assigned by Superintendent or Project Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Technical Skills and Experience
- Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other similar field.
- Proficiency in email communication when appropriate.
- Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required by project schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding up to 50’ tall and lift up-to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk jobsites extensively (8-10 hours per day) and safely navigate through construction area(s).
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist for extended periods of time on a daily basis.
- Must have the ability to work in all temperature and weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, etc.

- Exude motivation and a passion for your role on the project to set the example for aspiring team members and subcontractors.
