SUMMARY

This individual is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in oversight and execution of assigned construction projects. This includes providing technical direction, helping to enforce company and project policies, interfacing with subcontractors, and ensuring that the project is constructed in accordance with the contract documents. The role of the Assistant Superintendent will vary to some degree depending on the project size, duration, and the managing Superintendent of a particular project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES and tasks

» Assist in leading all trades on the jobsite.

» Assist with quality assurance reviews and quality control inspections.

» Provide technical assistance; recommendations to Superintendent on construction methods and equipment to complete work.

» Acts as a liaison between Superintendent and the laborers/carpenters on the project.

» Act as a liaison between Superintendent and Subcontractors on a specified area of project (specific floors, etc.).

» Assists the Superintendent in reviewing, analyzing, and reviewing field problems in an effort to find solutions.

» Enter weekly time for themselves and crews on the project for payroll administration and billing purposes.

» Be familiar with the project budget and cost-coding of items to the project.

» Assist in leading the site safety program for the project and uphold Trident’s commitment to a safe work environment and Trident’s commitment to a safety culture across all projects.

» Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

» Stay current with changing technology, including software programs. Use computing skills to navigate electronic project files and to set up meetings and communication electronically.

» Complete ongoing self-assessments, in coordination with Trident’s Learning and Development program, to be reviewed by bi-annual check-ins and reviews.

» Other duties and tasks as assigned by Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.

Qualifications and requirements

To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.

Education/Technical Skills and Experience

» Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other similar field and minimum three (3) years construction experience required or equivalent number of years in the industry.

» OSHA 30 certification and First Aid certification desired.

» Ability to interpret documents such as safety requirements, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

» Ability to read and understand the contract documents.

» Proficiency in email communication when appropriate.

» Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as required by project schedule.

Physical Requirements

» Must have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding up to 50’ tall and lift up-to 50 lbs.

» Must be able to walk jobsites extensively (8-10 hours per day) and safely navigate through construction area(s).

» Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist for extended periods of time on a daily basis.

» Must have the ability to work in all temperature and weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, etc.
