Position Summary: The Supervisor, Quality Control (QC) is responsible and accountable for the oversight of sampling, inspection, testing, and examination of components, in-process materials, finished product and quality related issues in production areas. This position is responsible for ensuring that inspection, measuring, and test equipment is fit for the intended purpose, calibrated, and maintained as well as for ensuring that all applicable procedures are followed and ensure compliance to cGMPs.
This is a Third Shift position with scheduled hours of 11pm-7:30am.
Responsibilities
- Knowledgeable of the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and maintains knowledge base on an ongoing, timely basis as procedural changes occur without relying on management intervention or direction.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and teaches department procedures and company polices.
- Pays attention to detail in all aspects and ensures paperwork is complete, accurate and neat.
- Develops, trains, and supervises QC Inspection personnel and ensures that personnel are trained in applicable procedures, including cGMPs, safety procedures and chemical hazards. Ensures training is reasonably continuous, timely and conducted before employees begin new tasks.
- Ensures that performance appraisals for direct reports and department personnel are conducted in a thorough and timely manner.
- Conducts periodic check-ins with all staff to provide performance and behavior feedback.
- Leads continuous improvement of processes and practices through inter- and intra-departmental collaboration.
- Ensures there is awareness of cross contamination issues and prevention techniques while sampling and inspecting materials and exhibits vigilance in taking proper precautions to maintain a clean environment.
- Ensures that QC checks are consistent and timely in the production facility and ensures thorough and rapid inspection of received materials as per established procedures and department goals.
- Ensures that inspection, measuring, and test equipment is fit for the intended purpose, calibrated and maintained as per established procedures.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of the overall functions of production and the flow process from receiving raw materials to the finished product.
- Understands and can categorize defects as per established procedures. Able to determine differences between categories of defects and makes a sound and reasonable judgment call as to the acceptability of the material.
- Ensures nonconforming material, deviation, and reprocessing processes are followed as per established procedures.
- Ensures compliance with cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and all other regulatory requirements, in accordance with company policy.
What You Need
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a Quality role ideally in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Food manufacturing preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to use the Quality Management Software System and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to complete relevant job duties.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including metric measurement, using whole numbers and decimals.
