POSITION SUMMARY: Performs routine analytical and microbiology laboratory preparation of solutions in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and test methods. Assists laboratory work using prescribed analytical and microbiological techniques, follows good documentation practices (GDP) and current good manufacturing processes (cGMP).

RESPONSIBILITIES: Quality Control Laboratory Associate

  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly custodial duties as required, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
  • Reviews and supports reserve inventory management.
  • Reviews and maintains representative sample storage.
  • Prepares agar plates and performs autoclaving.
  • Prepares diluents, reagents, and solutions.
  • Forecasts need for microbiological media and prepares new media accordingly.
  • Collects environmental samples
  • Provides administrative support of the laboratory, such as maintaining levels of supplies and consumables, including routine receiving and stocking of supplies.
  • Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of assigned tasks.
  • Works under general supervision using qualitative and quantitative techniques.
  • Follows laboratory procedures; attention to detail is essential.
  • Completes and maintain all required documentation for procedures and recording work.
  • Demonstrates the ability to reproduce work accurately and consistently.
  • Arrives at work as scheduled, starts work at the beginning of a shift, is on time to meetings, and complete sassigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Interacts with coworkers and supervisors in a professional manner.
  • Responds appropriately to instruction and feedback from supervisor.
  • Follows the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the latest version of the Thorne Research Employee Handbook.
  • Become thoroughly knowledgeable of the applicable provisions of Thorne Research’s Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and maintains knowledge base on an ongoing, timely basis as procedural changes occur without relying on management intervention or direction.
  • Promotes the Company’s Mission and Values, including an accountable, innovative, and results-oriented culture that promotes customer service, openness, teamwork, mutual trust, and respect.
  • Seeks formal and informal performance assessments of self, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential.
  • Actively participates in required training, development programs, and electives; supports colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; associates degree is preferred.
