POSITION SUMMARY: The Information Technology Director of Selling and Customer Systems, works strategically with stakeholders to align technology resources with business goals while directing themselves and others in the execution of technical strategy and system implementation. This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions. This position will implement and define requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to and implementing standards, processes, and best practices. The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to developing, maintaining, and supporting systems for the following functional capabilities: Selling, including eCommerce and future physical retail solutions, Marketing and Customer Communications, Customer Service, and Marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Satisfactorily performing and/or achieving the following Responsibilities are essential duties of the job.

  • Works with CIO on strategic technical vision for the Company, and work with cross functional stakeholders to achieve said vision. Provides strategic thinking and leadership on a wide range of application types, architectures, or software-development methodologies.
  • Formally supervises and coaches engineers to build, enhance, and support applications/services in the delivery of internal or market-facing products or platforms.
  • Oversees the management of team software engineers, related 3rd party partners, and SaaS/PaaS providers, and acts as the highest authority on high-level and complex decisions within the function.
  • Works with business/product owners to develop and deliver on new services to introduce new products.
  • Works on complex enterprise-wide initiatives to drive resolution.
  • Ensures objectives and development plans are established at the start of the year and reviewed continuously throughout the year.
  • Continuously engages and improves teams’ performance by conducting recurring meetings, knowing your people, managing career development, and understanding who is at risk.
  • Provides and facilitates timely feedback, coaching in the moment, and mentoring for staff at all levels.
  • Benchmarks and drives engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance in the areas of ownership.
  • Owns the end-to-end platform architecture and engineering of the Selling and Customer related systems.
  • Oversees the development of fault tolerant, high-performance integrations with internal and third-party systems.
  • Oversees the development, testing, and implementation of enhancements to the selling, customer, and marketing platforms and its related API & administrative web applications.
  • Understands the evolving security, compliance, and regulatory environments with key focus on ensuring we proactively eliminate vulnerabilities.
  • Effectively communicates to executives and business owners as well as system users.
  • Stays current on technology trends and new software solutions.
  • Seeks formal and informal performance assessments, including performance versus expectations and goals, behaviors, and leadership potential.
  • Actively participates in required training and development programs and electives as suits one’s needs, and supports colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.

What You Need:

  • Experience and/or Education:

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics or equivalent industry experience is required. 10+ years of experience in a modern statically typed language (Java, Scala, Go, etc.). Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, SQL and CSS. A strong grasp of data structures and algorithms. Experience working with / presenting to company executives. Successful track record in managing development organization with demonstrated thought-leadership, cross-functional influence, and partnership.
