Position Summary

The Vice President Finance & Corporate Controller is a pivotal leadership role based in Summerville, SC, reporting directly to the CFO. This executive will oversee all aspects of financial accounting and corporate governance, ensuring the delivery of clean audited financials and effective tax strategies. The role is critical in driving the financial directives of the company and leading a skilled financial team towards achieving the strategic objectives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the preparation and integrity of all financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
2. Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
3. Lead and manage the corporate finance team to promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
4. Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of all external audits.
5. Manage corporate tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
6. Develop and monitor policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and corporate governance frameworks.
7. Collaborate with senior leadership to efficiently and effectively meet departmental and company objectives.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.

2. Minimum of 15 years of relevant business experience, with demonstrated experience as a Corporate Controller in a privately held company environment, preferably in consumer goods.

3. Experience with corporate governance, financial reporting, and tax planning.

4. Strong leadership skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring a finance team.

5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of communicating complex financial information in an easy-to-understand format.
