The Opportunity
Join Boeing Defence Australia as a Supplier Quality Specialist on the iconic E-7 Wedgetail program.
As Boeing advances the E7 program, we require a Supplier Quality Specialists to ensure our supply chain maintains the highest standards of excellence. This role offers the opportunity to manage critical quality and compliance requirements while working alongside top-tier supply chain team and suppliers to support next-generation aerospace capabilities.
In this position, you will provide specialist oversight to support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of quality and safety standards across the E7 supply chain. Working in close alignment with business leaders, program teams, and functional stakeholders, you will facilitate safe, compliant, and efficient program execution while strengthening governance, assurance, and overall business performance.
This role is based in Brisbane.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
- Develops quality metrics, equipment and process qualification plans for programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
- Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
- Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
- Provides material review dispositions suggestions for complex non-conformances as required.
- Analyses non-conformance trends in supply chain to evaluate effectiveness of supplier corrective actions and recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
- Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
- Plans and conduct audits and assessments of supplier's systems, processes and products.
- Documents and reports audit and assessment results. Inspects or verifies products for compliance with requirements as required.
- Assists with assessments of supplier capability and capacity to perform current or potential future work.
- Provides supplier education and coaching on quality systems, regulatory compliance issues and company initiatives.
- Addresses routine issues and concerns in supplier quality and contributes to the development of strong supplier relationships.
- Represents Supplier Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
Experience/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, quality, safety, aviation management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a Quality, Safety, or related role within aerospace, defence, aviation, manufacturing or another complex, regulated environment.
- Experience supporting operational, program or business unit delivery environments.
- Working knowledge of management systems and relevant standards/frameworks, including AS9100/ISO 9001 and applicable SMS regulatory or industry frameworks.
- Experience in assurance, auditing, risk management, investigation, corrective action management and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships, influence stakeholders and provide practical support in a delivery-focused environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Lead Auditor qualifications and/or experience in aviation, aerospace or defence environments will be highly regarded.
Technical Competencies
- Comprehensive understanding of product lifecycles, including development, integration, and in-service sustainment. Proficiency in interpreting technical data required to define and maintain product configurations (e.g., design definitions, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams, schematics, functional test procedures, and supplier technical data). Ability to distinguish between development/integration requirements and in-service sustainment procedures.
- Knowledge of supplier capabilities to support both program development and long-term sustainment, including technical, service, and design management. This includes familiarity with supplier business systems, organisational structures, risk mitigation strategies, capacity planning, and delivery performance. Ability to interpret supplier data, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure continued product integrity.
- Understanding of the responsibilities and workflows within procurement and supply chain disciplines. Knowledge of the interdependencies between departments (e.g., Engineering, Program Management, Logistics, and Operations) and how cross-functional processes impact overall program delivery and sustainment.
- Proficiency in drawing and data management systems (e.g., part relationships, product data management) and a strong command of configuration management principles. This includes expertise in part number control, revision management, naming conventions, and product identification numbering systems to ensure configuration accuracy throughout the product lifecycle.
