Boeing Global Services (BGS) is currently hiring for various levels to join C-17 Avionics/Flight Controls Development Engineering team for a Lead or Senior Systems Design and Analysis Engineer located, in Long Beach, California.
This position is to support C-17 Avionics/Flight Controls Development Engineering team. A high-wing, four-engine, T-tailed aircraft with a rear-loading ramp, the C-17 can carry large combat equipment and troops or humanitarian aid across international distances directly to small austere airfields anywhere in the world. The C-17 Globemaster III aircraft will fulfill military and humanitarian airlift needs well into the 21st century. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with and perform subsystem/system level testing of autopilot, stability augmentation system, primary flight controls, high lift controls, and fly-by-wire control systems.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in a collaborative environment in the design, analysis, test, and sustainment of the C-17 Flight Control System.
- Technical oversight of and participation in the following tasks:
- Ensure technical compliance of project statement of work
- Develop Flight Control System integration plan and schedule/conduct program level data conferences, meetings, and airworthiness compliance coordination with USG and other Air Force agencies
- Responsible for the overall Flight Control technical integration of hardware, software, electrical wiring, specialty engineering, labs and associated Integrated Product Teams (IPT)
- Define system level requirements and traceability matrices for projects
- Provide guidance for airworthiness criteria of Flight Control Systems
- Define Flight Test requirements
- Document systems analyses, collaborate with Systems Test Lead/supplier to determine root cause on anomalies, and communicate with supplier during design life cycle
- Ability to travel domestically to support Systems Lab/Flight Test, supplier and Air Force customer meetings may be required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 5 + years’ experience of Air Vehicle design or Systems Integration of Air Vehicle design
- 5 + years’ experience with aircraft systems including avionics, flight controls, hydraulics, electrical and integrated vehicle management systems

1 + years’ experience leading a team or project
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10 years of higher education and/or related work experience do you have? (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
10+ years of experience with air vehicle systems
Military or commercial aircraft program experience
- Experience working within a matrixed reporting organization
- Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations
- Exhibit excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Summary Pay Range(level 4):$146,200 - $197,800
Summary Pay Range (level 5):$176,800 - $239,200
