This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
- Completes all necessary monitoring, recordkeeping, reporting, and permitting tasks forthe Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) program for the facility.
- Serves as thewasteregulation compliance focal for the facility, providing guidance on allwaste-related compliance decisions.
- Assists with managing the work statement and scheduling of our environmental services contractor for the facility including hazardous cleanup work, paint booth cleanup and filter
changeouts, and waste shipments inside the facility. - Assesses the impact of emerginghazardous wasteenvironmental issues, legislation, and regulations onfacilityoperations, and implements appropriate programs as a response is developed.
- Works regularly with environmental compliance agencies and environmental contacts both internal and external to Spirit.
- Coordinates and conveys input into the developing legislation and regulatory programs by meeting with representatives of industry, regulatory agencies, government, and the public.
- Conducts studies and performs analyses and calculations involving appropriate design, selection, installation, and operation of pollution control equipment, waste and chemical process systems,
and remediation. - Develops, implements, and monitors environmental projects and programs ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and permits and the mission, goals, and objectives of the company.
- Prepares permit applications and regulatory reports.
- Integrates and assists in the development of company data management systems for environmental programs.
- Develops Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA) as needed.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Environmental Science/Chemistry or other scientific fields with0-5years’ experience required in environmental compliance.
- Knowledge of common practices, policies, and procedures related to environmental compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with Federal and State environmental regulations related toRCRA and solid waste compliance.
- Ability to manage the work statement and schedule of a contractor to meet the needs of customers in the Wichita facility.
- Ability to monitor and evaluate production processes for potential efficiency opportunities and turn those opportunities into realwastereduction projects.
- Ability to assist other Spirit facilities in implementing thesewastereduction projects where appropriate.
- Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-basedsafety data sheet managementapplications.
- Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex information to individuals unfamiliar with environmental regulations.
- Skills necessary to deliver presentations to groups unfamiliar with environmental regulations.
- Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and effectively respond to any emergent needs.
- Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
- 5-10 years’ experience in environmental compliance.
- Direct experience in compliance withRCRA regulationsfor a manufacturing facility.
- Direct experience in environmental compliance process improvement project management.
- Direct experience developing and implementing compliance inspection programsfor a manufacturing facility.
- ISO 14001:2015 compliance and program improvementexperience a plus.
- Background in other environmental regulations such as CAA, RCRA,NPDES, etc.also
advantageous.

Summary Pay Range - Mid-Level (Level 3): $72,600 - $111,300
