Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Equipment & Reliability Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join our 787 Systems Integration Engineering team in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Reliability Engineering ensures that manufacturing teammates have optimal access and knowledge of how to operate safe and functionally reliable assets. This engineering function within Production Engineering provides a huge, direct impact towards delivery of 787 Dreamliners by taking the initiative through hands-on immersion into the production areas, proactively analyzing production asset downtime data trends, executing asset upgrade projects, and applying reliability engineering practices to ensure that new designs are validated and built reliably into production from the start. The Reliability Engineering organization collectively needs a diverse technical skillset and is comprised of mechanical, structural, electrical and controls engineers.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate Level (Level 2) and Mid-Level (Level 3) Equipment & Reliability Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:
Building trust through collaboration with manufacturing and maintenance teammates.
Persistent troubleshooting and root cause determination is critical to minimize disruption to the production system during unplanned, emergent production asset downtime events.
Designs, analyzes and modifies aerospace manufacturing equipment and tooling that meet stakeholder requirements.
Researches, develops, evaluates and integrates robotics, automation, and new technologies and processes related to equipment and tooling for applicability to programs and products.
Teams with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop and review bids and procurement specifications.
Estimates, plans, manages and executes the acquisition and modification of equipment and tooling.
Develops and implements testing and acceptance to validate performance.
Creates and maintains related documentation for equipment and tooling, develops preventative maintenance plans and trains personnel as needed.
Develops and implements interim solutions for damaged and unsafe equipment and tooling.
Investigates engineering changes and controls equipment and tooling configuration in accordance with company procedures.
Develops and recommends equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tooling.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
2+ years of experience working in an engineering discipline application
Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling software programs
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 3: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficient in Root Cause Analysis or similar troubleshooting technique
Experience in equipment maintenance and project management
Experience in Data analytics
Knowledge of configuration management systems and documentation practices
Knowledge of reliability practices such as condition-based maintenance, vibration analysis, thermography, machine alignment
Knowledge of industrial PLC and HMIs in automatic equipment, such as programming and ladder logic

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range Associate Level (Level 2): $85,000 - $115,000
Summary Pay Range Mid-Level (Level 3): $103,700 - $140,300
