Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) 787 Interiors Program is seeking a Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager (Level K) to join the Payloads Engineering Team in North Charleston, SC. This role involves expected travel of approximately 10% to various sites and suppliers, both domestically and internationally.
As the Mechanical & Structural Engineering Manager, you will be expected to lead a high-performing Integration and Production Support team providing a variety of technical solutions and complex project oversight in support of existing and future commercial airplane products.
The successful candidate will have strong engineering expertise, the ability to guide multi-faceted projects to completion, possess outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
Position Responsibilities:
Keep safety and quality at the forefront of all activities
Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in Mechanical & Structural Engineering
Leads development of engineering solutions for the Payloads Engineering function in support of current and future commercial airplane products
Provides oversight of complex projects, integrating multiple considerations including suppliers, interfacing engineering teams, production system needs, regulations, and airline requirements
Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports across Global Boeing team
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
Manages, develops and motivates employees
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
5+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry
1+ years of experience using Project Management Methodologies, including developing project plans, managing issues and risks
1+ years of experience in leading cross-functional teams
1+ years of experience managing complex projects
Able and willing to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience with Boeing Commercial Airplanes
3+ years of experience leading aerospace design engineering teams and integrating within a global supply base and product value streams
Knowledge of Boeing products and processes
Knowledge or experience of Integrated Interiors Cabin and Cargo products
Knowledge or experience with leading or managing an IPT Design team
Knowledge of or experience with the Boeing Customer Intro process, CIPD, procedures and value Stream
Knowledge or experience with Engineering Design, Supply Chain support, Supplier Furnished products, and/or Buyer Furnished products
Knowledge of or experience with production support for customer introduction and/or Cabin systems and In-Flight Entertainment
Experience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulations
Proven ability to lead with the Boeing Values
Demonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement
Solid technical background with the ability to guide and mentor the team

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $137,700 - $186,300
