Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking two Associate or Mid-Level Equipment & Tool Designers to join our Innovation Cells team in North Charleston, SC. The positions available are Team Member and Team Lead.
The Innovation Cell leverages technologies to enhance collaboration and inclusion within the engineering and production teams. The team is responsible for collaborating and applying these technologies to create innovative, affordable, and value-driven solutions. The team will work together to develop and implement rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing, and other solutions into the engineering and production system.
Team Member:
As a Team Member, your main responsibility will be to support the 787 Innovation Cells and assist your colleagues in enhancing the Safety, Quality, and Producibility of the most advanced commercial airplane currently in operation. You will collaborate with a diverse, cross-functional team. A successful candidate for this position will possess a passion for innovation, creativity, and a relentless drive for process improvement and efficiency. Additionally, you should have a strong inclination to engage directly on the factory floor, interacting with mechanics, safety personnel, and equipment services, while actively supporting the production system.
Team Lead:
As the Team Lead, your primary responsibility will be to provide daily support, ensuring a positive experience for both customers and team members. You will play a vital role in facilitating seamless operations for both rotators and customers. Your leadership will significantly influence how your team adapts to meet evolving customer demands. Your focus will be on understanding the operational environment and coaching your team to execute effectively. You will also be responsible for grasping process requirements and guiding your team in addressing engineering and manufacturing challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of teammates in Innovation Cells.
Apply the Boeing Problem Solving Method to identify and implement engineering and production improvements.
Investigate and develop equipment and tooling concepts to enhance production.
Participate in design reviews, gather requirements, and create or revise drawings and models for builds.
Encourage teammates to share ideas and production challenges.
Build relationships with relevant functional and technical support teams.
Collaborate with other Innovation Cell members to streamline processes and procedures.
Assist in maintaining assets, including industrial 3D printers, CNC machines, and other
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
3+ years of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and implement plans, schedules, or solutions

Associate: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).
Mid-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working in a production environment
Ability to collaborate with both the engineering and factory floor teammates
Boeing Problem Solving Method experience
Project management knowledge
Strong communication skills
Successfully completed a previous Innovation Cell Rotation

Associate Level: 52,700-71,300
Mid- Level: 63,750-86,250
