Job Summary and Qualifications
The Neuro/Stroke Coordinator encompasses stroke, neurosurgical and spine patients. Serves as a key contact for stroke and neurosurgical patients, ensures that the patient population served has a safe, high quality, efficient delivery of care throughout the continuum of care. Monitors to assure all quality benchmarks are reached with follow up education to staff as indicated. Assists with concurrent database monitoring. Stroke Coordinator will help facilitate achieving and maintaining JC disease specific certification for PSC, TSC and aid in plans to move to comprehensive certification. Role also acts as a resource internally and in the community to educate staff about the stroke and neuroscience population. Aid in mock Stroke alerts throughout all facilities. Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the shift. The Stroke Coordinator is accountable for collaborating with members of the health care team to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies. The Stroke Coordinator supports the Stroke Clinical Practice Leader and is responsible for maintaining current professional knowledge and competencies and contributing to the advancement of the practice of neuroscience nursing at the unit/system, local, state and/or national level.
What qualifications you will need:
- (RN) Registered Nurse
- Registered Nurse Diploma
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Minimum of three years recent experience in acute care nursing setting to include med/surg/neurology, cardiovascular, ICU or ED related patient population.
- Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal and external customer.
