Sportsman Boats is looking for a Water Spider who will reduce waste, shorten process lead time, and maintain a steady flow of production through maintaining safety, inventory accuracy, optimizing material flow, enhancing organization, and facilitating team collaboration.
What you will do:
- Exceed safety standards by strictly adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, participating in safety training, and always promoting a safe working environment.
- Use the production schedule and coordinate with Warehouse to achieve on-time delivery of materials and supplies to production lines to prevent any interruptions in the manufacturing process. Ensure WIP levels are kept optimal, reflecting the true needs of production in real-time.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain accurate records to ensure all materials are correctly accounted for, ensure min/max levels are correct, and eliminate stock outs line side.
- Use Continuous Improvement tools to improve the efficiency of material transport routes and methods to reduce transit time and increase overall productivity.
- Implement and maintain an organized and optimized storage system that reduces material retrieval time.
- Actively participate and/or lead process improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, 5S events and provide feedback and suggestions to streamline operations to reduce waste, with the goal of implementing at least two significant improvements per quarter.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration with production team members and supervisors, aiming to resolve any material-related issues.
- Complete all required training programs and seek additional learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, targeting at least one professional development course per year.
- Ensure that all materials are delivered in optimal condition, meeting quality standards and reducing material defects or damage.
- Experience with basic hand tools
- Experience in marine, automotive, electrical, or carpentry
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
- Detail oriented, proactive and organized
- Advanced verbal communication skills
- Advanced time management skills
- Lean Manufacturing Tools and manufacturing experience
- Ability to influence a cross-functional team
- A mindset of continuous improvement, safety, quality, and productivity
- Experience in marine industry preferred
- Experience in MS Office and/or ERP systems
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
