Machine Maintenance Specialist Supervisor

Machine Maintenance Specialist Supervisor – Day Shift

Job Overview

To oversee and manage the production maintenance technicians of the SHL medical device manufacturing facility. Be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all production equipment and machinery in the facility, managing maintenance staff, and helping to develop and implement effective maintenance programs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise maintenance staff, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs (SOP) to ensure the efficient operation of all production equipment and machinery in the facility.
  • Support and or lead production down time investigations to help determine deviation root causes, recommended immediate mitigation, and long-term preventative strategies.
  • Develop and support continuous improvement projects to improve the safety, robustness and compliance of the facilities and production equipment and support areas.
  • Support technical information requests from internal stakeholders and production groups.
  • Assist in identifying spare parts requirements, train operatives and support staff, and maintaining operational records in SAP.
  • Lead and or support performing RCA and FMEA of equipment failure to drive improvement.
  • Enforce safe operating practices and establish a safe environment for the entire staff and customers by abiding with all the procedures and policies as established by the company.
  • Work with planning group to forecast, organize, and execute all work order requests assigned in a timely manner.
  • Understand and be familiar with general maintenance workflow processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs (performing quality checks of all machinery, tools, equipment, etc.)
  • Record and track daily progress/error reports using KPI.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance activities.
  • Set priorities and motivate team members.
  • Work daily to develop team members through positive, constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Must be able to support Facility maintenance, and shutdown during holidays, and off hours.
  • Shift: 7:00AM -3:30PM

Skills and Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Associate Degree in a related field.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in a maintenance management role, preferably in a medical device manufacturing facility and fully automated assembly machines.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective maintenance programs and managing maintenance staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex maintenance issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Lean 6S & Six Sigma, Continuous cost reduction, OEE improvements Root Cause analysis (RCA), and FMEA.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, including preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate staff.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
