Job Overview
This position is a technical role within our Operations Engineering group in Zug. You will join our growing Factory Simulation team and become a key player that will directly contribute to optimizing SHL’s production strategies, impacting efficiency and ultimately, the success of the company.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to dive headfirst into the exciting world of Plant Simulation, directly contributing to the development of cutting-edge factory digital twins.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the development of simulation models for various aspects of our manufacturing processes (injection molding, logistics, etc.). Break down the overall factory into modular components for targeted optimization.
- Ensure quality and accuracy by testing simulation modules, identifying issues, and validating them against real-world data.
- Collect and structure the data about factory operations integrating them into the simulation modules development.
- Calibrate and refine the simulation model, ensuring updated and realistic operational scenarios.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to understand the data generated by the simulation models.
- Analyze simulation data to identify trends, patterns, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Create clear and concise data visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs) to effectively communicate insights from the data.
- Follow established documentation style and best practices, enabling smooth knowledge transfer within team members and ensuring future proofing.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Requirements
Minimum:
- Interest or previous experience with Discrete Event Simulation Software for modelling and simulation – preferably Siemens Plant Simulation or FlexSim.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g. Python, C, MATLAB or other)
- Experience with data analysis tools and data visualization techniques (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
- Fluency in English
- Student in Engineering or Applied Sciences in a relevant field (System Engineering, Production Management/Logistics)
Preferred:
- Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools is a plus.
