Job Overview
This role is embedded in the Operations group in North Charleston, South Carolina, within our Global Operations team.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe & effective operation of an automated assembly line/work cell while maintaining a high level of focus on Quality.
- Key accountabilities: Ensure the process and team performs per plan; confirm adherence to standards and procedures; solve problems
- Execute the production plan by leading the operation, monitoring, and controlling of equipment, systems, and processes within the work cell / assembly line
- Enforce all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Help facilitate a productive, engaging, and safe working environment
- Setup next team for success
- Coordinate Maintenance activities, scheduled by Maintenance Planning, supported by maintenance technicians
- Lead team in Event Response/RCA with assistance from production engineer/technician and Production Manager
- Schedule work cell resources, to include breaks, lunches, and other activities
- Address any safety, quality, staffing or personnel issues and escalate to Production Manager if necessary
- Monitor performance and the completion of training to assure the competency level of work cell team members. Ensure team members are trained to the standard
- Responsible for cGMP documentation
- Provide performance review input for work cell team members as required by Production Manager
- Spend 20% – 50% of time operating as an operator at the work cell / assembly line
- Other accountabilities as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in relevant field or equivalent military training or industrial training which includes a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical & control systems
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience, FDA regulated preferred
- Qualified to perform operator & maintenance activities on work cell equipment
- Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting. Supports & actively participates in event response activities for the process. Documents problems & works to bring them rapidly to solution
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge / experience with the following systems: Compressed air/pneumatic controls, Electromechanical controls, Electrical/Mechanical assemblies and systems; instrumentation, robotics and optical sensors
- Proven experience with automated records systems such as SAP, schematics, wiring diagrams & other technical documents
- Computer literacy
- Experience with planning & organizing, managing execution, checking results, & revising the work plan to meet daily work plan targets
Physical Demands
- Ability to move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility using various body positions
- Routinely operates and inspects manufacturing equipment using hands
- Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift
- Corrected vision to 20/30
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service equipment; ability to work atop elevated positions
- Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves
- Occasionally positions self within confined spaces for inspection, repair and maintenance of equipment
- Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
- (Ability to attain clean room gowning certification and work with hazardous materials, including sanitants)
- Frequent bending, stooping and prolonged working overhead
- Ability to work the hours necessary to support a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation
