Manufacturing Technician - Metal Component Production

Job Overview

This role is embedded in Packaging and Metal component production of our new state-of-the-art device manufacturing facility in North Charleston, South Carolina.

Main Responsibilities

  • Improve systems & equipment reliability in production; reduce system/equipment downtime associated with assigned process/equipment & support operation of assigned process/equipment.
  • Work in a safe & environmentally responsible way
  • Actively improve performance & reliability of automation equipment
  • Restore function to equipment in an effective & technically correct manner
  • Actively participate in & support Event Response
  • Perform corrective & preventative maintenance on assigned equipment/process
  • Operate, monitor, control equipment, systems & processes assigned
  • Support & implement system/equipment reliability improvement projects
  • Support & assist in all aspects of equipment/process operations
  • Record/review production data and maintenance activities per SHL work instructions
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Operating the assigned work cell as required
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

Required Qualification

  • AA/AS/AAS degree in relevant field, or equivalent military training or industrial training (mechanical, electrical, automation & control systems)
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience

Desired Qualification

  • Knowledgeable in the following systems: Compressed Air/Pneumatic actuators and systems, Electro-Mechanical controls, Electrical, Mechanical
  • Ability & experience with automated records systems such as SAP, schematics, wiring diagrams & other technical documents
  • Production experience with metal / cold forming processes and equipment (knowledge of WAFIOS equipment would be an advantage)
  • Computer literacy
  • Support planning & execution of process functions & assist in coordination of planned & corrective maintenance activities to ensure successful process performance

Physical Demands

  • Ability to move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds within the facility using various body positions
  • Routinely operates and inspects manufacturing equipment using hands
  • Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift
  • Corrected vision to 20/30
  • Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service equipment; ability to work atop elevated positions
  • Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves
  • Occasionally positions self within confined spaces for inspection, repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection
  • (Ability to attain clean room gowning certification and work with hazardous materials, including sanitants)
  • Frequent bending, stooping and prolonged working overhead
  • Ability to work the hours necessary to support a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation
