Role and Responsibilities: Senior Process Engineer / Robot Programmer
The Senior Process Engineer is a core role for the success of Sapience that plays a key part of the engineering and implementation of the systems at Sapience. This role requires a person who is strong technically, is creative for system design, has leadership skills, and enjoys working with team members. Role and Responsibilities: Senior Process Engineer / Robot Programmer
The Senior Process Engineer is a core role for the success of Sapience that plays a key part of the engineering and implementation of the systems at Sapience. This role requires a person who is strong technically, is creative for system design, has leadership skills, and enjoys working with team members. Being a key role in the company, the role includes a highly competitive salary and a full benefits package.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing robot programs for material handling, assembly, painting, packaging, and other applications.
- Designing robot systems utilizing robot simulation software and 3D CAD software.
- Working with the Application Engineering and Sales organizations to engineer and develop proposals for robot systems
- Using robot simulation software to develop and test robot programs prior to installation on the project.
- Using robot simulation software to design and validate robot system layouts in support of the proposal and engineering phases of the project.
- Working collaboratively with mechanical engineering to optimize the robot system design by using robot simulation to select and place robots and optimize the tooling design.
- Programming and implementing vision systems and inspection systems associated with the robot.
- Working collaboratively with Controls Engineers to integrate the robots with PLCs and other control devices or perform PLC integration directly.
- Testing programs during the Factory Automation Test (FAT) / Modular Build phase of the projects at Sapience’s facility
- Developing the plan and timeline for developing and testing the robot programs for projects.
- Implementing and testing programs at the customer’s facility. Being a main point of contact for the customer for technical application questions.
- Coordinating other robot programmers on larger projects that require more than one process engineer.
- Developing and providing training to customers on system operations
- 2+ years of experience in the robotics industry programming robots
- Experience with FANUC robots is preferred
- Experience with robot simulation or offline programming software
- Post high-school degree in a technical discipline
- Strong written and spoken language skills
- Proficient on PCs and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read technical drawings
- PLC experience not required, but is a plus
- Travel to customer sites to support system installations and production support required.
