Description

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician V to provide 2nd and 3rd echelon maintenance support for U.S. Marine Corps Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) platforms in support of NIWC tasking.

The candidate will perform troubleshooting, repair, installation, and inspection of JLTV systems and will provide technical feedback and recommendations to improve equipment installation, operation, and maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform 2nd and 3rd echelon maintenance on JLTV platforms in accordance with USMC, NIWC, and SAIC standards and procedures.
• Interface With onsite government customers.
• Identify and replace failed or degraded components and conduct functional tests to return equipment to full operational status.
• Document maintenance and inspection actions in required logs, forms, and electronic systems.
• Review technical documentation to identify and execute planned maintenance actions.
• Review and implement service advisories and service bulletins.
• Provide analysis and recommendations for changes and improvements to equipment installation, operation, modification, and maintenance procedures.
• Support all vehicle systems, including:
  • Communications systems
  • Engine repair
  • Automatic and manual transmissions
  • Suspensions and brakes
  • Electronic systems
  • Heating and air conditioning
  • Ancillary systems and subsystems
• Install mounts, brackets, cables, connectors, electronic equipment, and labels as required.
• Maintain serialized parts inventory, including warranty tracking and retention for potential return.
• Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with applicable safety protocols, technical manuals, and quality procedures.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience;
    OR
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in integration, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance for military wheeled vehicles.
• Technical & Professional:
  • Formally trained mechanic, either through Military service or formal postsecondary education.
  • Knowledge of military wheeled vehicle maintenance processes, licensing, policies, culture, operation, and training.
  • Knowledge of parts, materials, and processes related to electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ability to use various hand, power-driven, and specialty tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, handbooks, sketches, block diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to annotate and modify documentation in databases.
  • Ability to perform quality repairs in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Other Requirements:
  • Available for a flexible work schedule, including extended hours, sometimes with short notice.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DD Form 346 (U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card).
  • Must be able to obtain a CAC.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
