SAIC is seeking an organized and motivated Mechanical Engineer who is looking for an opportunity to grow with our company as we continue to expand our support in the modernization and development of various Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2s) designs as well as supporting production activities out of our Charleston, SC office.
The ideal candidate should have experience supporting various projects at all levels showcasing leadership qualities and attributes, as well as project management skills. The candidate should have the ability to discuss projects they have supported and/or led. Candidate should be able to self-manage/self-direct projects, and communicate regularly with customers, engineers, logisticians, and technicians.
Job Duties:
The candidate will need a engineering skill set, well-developed work habits, enthusiasm for the work, the willingness to get hands-on with the projects when required, an eagerness to learn new things, and the ability to work through challenging projects without extensive oversight.
Technical writing and engineering documentation proficiency is paramount to support the development of TDPs, project schedules, AOAs, and presentations.
The candidate will have to be detail oriented and possess excellent communication skills to ensure all aspects of the project remain on time and budget while meeting all requirements.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and two (2) or more years of experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Must have experience leading multiple projects to completion.
- Experience with most of the following:
- This position requires strong experience in manufacturing and knowledge of principles of metal fabrication.
- Execution of large-scale projects using formal Project Management and/or Systems Engineering practices.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of mechanical and electrical systems is necessary.
- Experience with National Instrument’s hardware and software systems or other data acquisition systems is preferrable.
