Job Description
1.0 Summary of Job Purpose:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Aerospace Quality Inspector to join our team. This position is crucial in ensuring that both incoming and outgoing parts and assemblies meet the highest quality standards. As a part of our Quality Assurance department, you will be responsible for performing inspections on components and assemblies for our small gas turbine engines used in commercial and business jet applications.
2.0 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receiving Inspection:
o Perform detailed inspections of incoming parts and materials to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and purchase order requirements.
o Utilize common measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to perform dimensional inspections.
o Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of received parts.
• Outgoing Inspection:
o Conduct final inspections on completed assemblies and products before shipment to ensure they meet all quality standards and customer requirements.
o Verify that all required documentation, including test reports, certifications, and conformances, are complete and accurate.
o Identify and document any non-conformities and work with the production and engineering teams to address and resolve issues.
• Metrology:
o Apply metrology principles to ensure precise and accurate measurements.
o Regularly calibrate and maintain inspection equipment to ensure reliability.
• Compliance:
o Ensure all inspections comply with aerospace regulations and industry standards.
o Stay informed about changes and updates to relevant aerospace standards and regulations.
• Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes and quality control procedures.
o Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements based on inspection findings.
Complementary Description
Required Competencies; Education / Knowledge / Skills and Abilities:
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in quality inspection, particularly in the aerospace industry.
• Knowledge of metrology and experience with common measurement tools and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Familiarity with aerospace regulations and standards (e.g., AS9100, FAA regulations).
• Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgments in a timely manner.
5.0 Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
• Dexterity to handle small parts and tools.
