As an Industrial Hygiene Technician, whether an entry-level or a seasoned professional, this position involves conducting hazardous building material assessments and surveys, with a primary focus on asbestos, lead-based paint, and indoor air quality concerns such as mold. Responsibilities may include air monitoring during renovation and demolition projects, preparing reports, maintaining and calibrating equipment, and participating in quality control programs. Depending on experience, technicians may assist under direct supervision, work independently on complex projects, or lead teams and manage large-scale assessments. - Hazardous Building Material Surveys: Perform or assist with asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous material assessments on job sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Air Monitoring and Sampling: Conduct regulatory air monitoring during renovation and demolition projects, including personal and area exposure assessments.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare accurate field reports and client data summaries, ranging from basic documentation to complex analysis, depending on experience level.
- Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Maintain, calibrate, and manage monitoring equipment to ensure proper functionality and adherence to quality control programs.
- Team Coordination and Quality Control: Collaborate with project managers and technicians, participate in quality control programs, and, for senior-level roles, lead project teams and oversee large-scale assessments.
What You Bring:
- All Experience Levels:
- Associate Technician: just starting out
- Technician I: 1+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
- Technician II: 3+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent experience, with an associate degree in a related field
- Technician III: 5+ years of relevant experience. Experience in overseeing and mentoring junior staff, a plus
- An Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, a plus
- Industry-related certifications:
- Asbestos Air Monitor and/or Asbestos Inspector accreditation
- Asbestos Air Monitor and/or Asbestos Inspector
- Lead Inspector or Risk Assessor
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40hr
- Attention to detail and good communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Adequate mechanical/equipment operation skills necessary to calibrate and adjust a light microscope
- Effective math skills necessary to perform asbestos sample analysis
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:
- Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for long periods or lengths
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Climb ladders/scaffolding with equipment
- Work outside of normal business hours when necessary
