Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital: Expanding to Serve More

Our community is growing and so are we! Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital is doubling its bed capacity as part of a major expansion, set for completion in early 2026.

This growth will bring expanded services to emergency, cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics, neurology, inpatient dialysis, and additional specialties in our Medical Office Building.

Location:

Berkeley Medical Office Building (MOB), 300 Callen Blvd., Suite 300, Summerville, SC 29486.

Schedule:

7:00am to 3:00pm to include weekends.

Job Summary:

To assist the staff by performing clerical duties. To maintain and update patient records in a timely, orderly manner. To acknowledge customers upon arrival to unit and to demonstrate enthusiastic friendly approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.

Experience: Previous secretarial experience desirable.

Licensure/Certification: Current American (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) card preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology. Skill in English grammar and spelling. Neat, legible handwriting. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and reports. Excellent communication skills. Ability to use office equipment, such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers.

Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include (but not limited to) patients, families, physicians, employees and visitors.

Work Demands/Environment:

Frequent sitting, walking, standing, stooping, bending. May require lifting or moving items up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Minimal exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, and/or irregular hours. Ability to read and comprehend.

1. Correctly utilize computer systems and serve as a unit resource for computer systems.
