Job Summary:
Performs all functions necessary to plan and direct the movement and inventory of medical supplies within the Health System for all Surgery Departments including but not limited to: receiving, storage, distribution, inventory management, surgery case cart assembly, PAR stock replenishment and customer service. Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and controlling resources necessary for the optimal performance of the applicable functional areas of responsibility. Works closely with the system Manager Purchasing, Manager Sourcing and Procurement, Manager Materials Operations, and the Clinical Value Analysis Administrator to integrate procurement activities, to create a single vendor/pricing methodology across the System, and to support the standardization process for all supplies and equipment. Oversees the accuracy and efficient management of the inventory including ensuring cycle counts are scheduled and performed. Responsible for the training and education of the materials facility staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor degree required. Prefer Business Administration, Economics, Health Care Administration, Logistics, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of five years of progressively responsible materials management experience in a complex environment of a medium to large hospital. Relevant experience outside hospitals and/or Healthcare will be considered.
Licensure/Certification: Certification through the Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
Possesses a strong knowledge of materials management operations in a complex hospital setting, statistical and financial analysis, budget preparation, productivity measurement and materials management information systems. Ability to analyze complex issues, identify problem and solutions. Proven ability to develop and implement innovative supply chain management processes designed to improve service, enhance cost effectiveness, and improve accountability and control of supplies. Proven ability to initiate, implement, and sustain change as a function for improvement and success within a dynamic supply chain operation. Demonstrates a strong understanding of all related, external materials management factors, including supplies capabilities and advanced supply delivery systems.
Possesses strong human resource management skills, specifically those related to managing staff across organization boundaries and functional areas within the organization. Demonstrated ability to recruit, trains, and motivates staff. Team builder and good role model positive/optimistic outlook in times of restructure and change. Proven conflict management and intervention skills. Demonstrated ability to engage in systems/process thinking and possess working knowledge of financial issues including budgeting and financial forecasting. Possesses state-of-art knowledge of materials management principles, practices, and relevant information technology to develop enhanced policies, procedures and systems. Goal-oriented and aggressive in accomplishing results with a leadership style characterized by high visibility, participation, and delegation. Must possess strong communication skills, oral and written, to effectively convey new programs, policies, and processes need to affect change successfully. Possesses strong interrelations-management skills tempered with the ability to effectuate change in a dynamic environment.
