Shift Hours: Two 10s per week, 7:30am - 6pm. Rotating days off during the week.
Summary of Primary Function
Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.
Essential Job Functions
In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures; serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments. Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department. Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery
Minimum Qualifications:
Cath Lab RN - Education:
•Associate of Nursing, nursing (required)
OR
•Diploma in Nursing (required)
•Bachelors of Science, nursing (preferred)
Cath Lab RN - Licensure/Certification:
•BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
•Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required)
RCIS - Education and Experience:
• Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular science, or
• Graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology (RT), or
• Meets education provisions required to obtain RCIS through CCI and SC Board of Medical Examiners and has already received those credentials.
RCIS- Licensure/Certification:
• Must maintain active Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Registration with the SC Board of Medical Examiners; and
• Must maintain active RCIS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); and
• Must maintain active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider.
• In addition to the above, RTs must also be registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).

Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates a high degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmia’s, patient parameters, and the management of cardiac complications. Demonstrates an understanding of all invasive EP procedures, the equipment and supplies needed for each procedure, and the indications for performing each procedure. Demonstrates an understanding of all device implantation procedures, the equipment and supplies needed for each procedure using appropriate sterile technique.
Other: Improves quality by monitoring the performance of EP procedures, offering suggestions for improvement, and taking actions to meet customer needs, and assuring work is performed consistent to quality standards. Communicates in a clear and effective manner to physician, staff and patients. Responds in a calm and efficient manner to all emergency situations that may arise in the EP lab. Respects the confidential nature of all aspects of patient care and business issues as outlined in hospital policies. Displays professional behavior at all times in the work place. Adheres to safety standards, policies and procedures. Accepts responsibility for the continuous improvement of work place safety by reporting unsafe conditions and suggesting improvements. Understands that patients may be apprehensive or fearful of invasive EP procedures and uses education and empathy to alleviate or reduce apprehension and fear.
