Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, RSFH (CSBD) ensures that the organization's strategic initiatives are well-defined, properly executed, and aligned with the overall vision and mission. The CSBD will be responsible for leading the organization's mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and integration strategy to pursue growth opportunities across different sources and lines of business. The CSBD will oversee M&A and divestiture portfolio management, opportunity identification, RFP process management, financial analysis, deal negotiations, valuation process oversight, JV partnerships and affiliations discussions, and partnership management. The CSBD will be responsible for driving volume growth in areas such as Acute, Non-Acute, Physician Services, Direct to Employer, and Direct to Business.
Essential Job Functions
Oversee development for the system, in relation to strategic investments, M&A, partnerships, and divestitures, and innovation opportunities
Act as a strategic partner to Executive Leadership: provide thought leadership and strategic direction for strategic M&A deals, and provide perspective on considerations of divestitures and integrations; and provide understanding of organization’s asset needs and drive tangible engagements and financially viable proposals to meet strategic goals
Define M&A/integration strategy and provide perspectives on prospective opportunities; conduct high level pro forma analysis for opportunities
Lead acquisition and divestiture work streams; create work plans and risk assessments for M&A prospects
Work with leadership team to analyze the market and develop/refine specific growth initiatives, including but not limited to service line rationalization, network integration and physician alignment
Provide oversite and governance for external partnerships
Evaluate results and return on investment of strategic partnerships/joint venture organizations
Lead go-to-market strategies for D2B opportunities, including direct to employer and provider
Build and maintain professional network within industry for potential M&A opportunities
Assess current projects for organization, ranging from transformation to daily administrative activities and be sure these projects align with the systems overall goals and priorities.
Identify ways to enhance organization’s value (quality, service, patient satisfaction, profitability, and revenue) by eliminating wasteful practices
