Job Summary: Under direct supervision of a licensed PT, provides optimal patient care in order to restore function and/or prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part. To promote the profession of Physical Therapy by providing education to students, hospital staff, and other professions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate Degree from a Physical Therapy Assistant Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Experience: No previous experience required.
Licensure/certification: Current licensure to practice Physical Therapy the state of South Carolina is required. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Knowledge/Skills: Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals. Must be able to communicate effectively with people of various cultural and educational backgrounds.
Other: Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all work related and sensitive information and project a professional manner.
Contacts: Constant interaction with internal and external customers to include (but not limited to) patients, families, physicians, employees and visitors.
Work Demands/Environment:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Specific visual requirements: inspection of patient, assessment of patient, visualization of gauges and documentation. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, toxic substances, pharmaceutical preparations, and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
