Job Description Summary

high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Basic keyboarding skills required; medical terminology preferred. Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider

Job Description

The Unit Secretary on the ____________ Unit reports to the Nurse Manager of the ____. Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary is accountable for performance of clerical work related to the nurses’ station. This position serves in the receptionist role at the nursing station; handles incoming and outgoing communications; processes physician’s orders; and maintains charts, records, supplies and, equipment. The Unit Secretary accurately performs computer related tasks.
