Job Description Summary
The Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking to fill a Research Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and collaborative investigator who will conduct research broadly focused on understanding the mechanisms regulating the tumor immune microenvironment and applying this knowledge to advance cancer research and therapeutic strategies.The candidate will be expected to support their salary through extramural funding and maintain an independent research program. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and applying a range of molecular, cellular, and/or computational approaches to investigate cancer biology and immune interactions.
The successful candidate is expected to publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and actively pursue extramural funding from agencies such as the NIH, NSF, and relevant private foundations. They will collaborate with faculty, trainees, and research staff, participate in regular laboratory and departmental meetings, and contribute to the broader academic mission of the department as directed by the Department Chair.
