Job Description Summary

MUSC Health is seeking a highly motivated Inpatient Pharmacist to join our academic medical center on an evening shift, 7-on/7-off schedule. This position supports medication-use safety and clinical excellence across a diverse and complex inpatient population while working within a multidisciplinary, teaching-focused environment.

Job Description

Work Shift:

  • Evening shift hours
  • 7 consecutive evening shifts followed by 7 consecutive days off
  • Weekend and holiday coverage included as part of the schedule rotation

Job Description:

  • Review, verify, and clinically assess medication orders for appropriateness, safety, and efficacy
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient clinical pharmacy services, including dosing optimization, renal/hepatic adjustments, antimicrobial stewardship support, and drug interaction management
  • Serve as a medication therapy resource for physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in medication reconciliation and transitions of care processes
  • Support evening pharmacy operations, including oversight of pharmacy technicians
  • Document and communicate clinical interventions in the electronic medical record
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Support MUSC’s academic mission by engaging with pharmacy residents and students as appropriate

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
