Job Description Summary

Coordinates clinical placement process for the College of Nursing undergraduate programs. This includes enforcing and updating clinical placement policies and procedures, serving as the liaison between the College of Nursing and undergraduate clinical sites and managing and maintaining clinical paperwork in clinical systems required by sites. Responds to data requests specific to undergraduate clinical and placement needs and outcomes. Collaborates with Compliance Manager to ensure compliance requests for required documents, tests, vaccines and certifications for all faculty and students at clinical facility sites are met.

Job Description

MUSC Preferred Training and Experience:
A bachelor's degree and one year experience in student services programs.

Job Responsibilities:

25% - Undergraduate Clinical Pre-Planning

Identifies clinical placement needs based on student enrollment. Communicates plans with course faculty and collaborates with program leadership to identify gaps and resolve them accordingly. Serves as the liaison with hospital partners to advocate for upcoming unit and preceptor needs.

25% - Undergraduate Clinical Placement

Creates, updates, and modifies clinical assignment schedules for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Program based on pre-planning. Maintains a current clinical rotation schedule for ABSN students and communicates it to faculty, staff, students, and clinical facilities. Finalizes 1:1 preceptor placement assignments. Attends curriculum committee meetings to advise faculty on clinical related issues. Communicates clinical facility information and updates to faculty and students. Participates in external meetings as an advisor/advocate for CON. Maintains confidentiality at all times and retains appropriate records for accreditation.

20% - Compliance Documentation Management

Collects, validates and submits undergraduate compliance documents to ensure timely entry into the clinical setting for both students and clinical faculty, as required.

10% - Student Advising

Advises students through clinical placement process and assists with program development for professionalism, networking, resume building, and clinical planning. Presents at mini-orientation, orientation session, and by request.

10% - Recruitment/Workforce Development

Works with hospital partners to communicate career opportunities, schedule information sessions, recruitment sessions, new grad blitz support. Networks and establishes relationships with potential new preceptors and clinical sites. Develops content to promote opportunities and benefits for supporting College of Nursing students. Engages in clinical-related recruitment centered meetings, visits, events and outreach.

10% - Other duties as assigned

To include but not limited to serving as back-up for graduate clinical education manager.
