Job Description Summary
This entry level position is to become proficient in quality casting, splinting services and providing patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice setting. The ambulatory cast tech I performs multi-skilled activities to support decentralized patient centered care to achieve desired outcomes. May be required to provide back-up support for other locations.Entity

Job Description
- Knowledge and compliance with the practice of casting and splinting with specialty casts for all age groups within a cast technician's scope.
- Understands contraindications and indications requiring casting, splinting, and bracing.
- Applies cast, splints, and all types of bracing under the provider's direction. iv. Using appropriate equipment, obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, BMI, HgA1C, head, chest, and abdominal circumference as appropriate to patient population.
- Completes chief complaint, reason for visit, change in patient condition, and all patient screenings for each visit.
- Assist patient with comfort related needs.
- Prepare patients for exams and all office procedures.
- Obtains, documents, and reports any abnormal findings to appropriate provider. Facilitate a positive learning environment for students, orient and train unfamiliar staff in assigned areas.
- Assist in teaching patient care under direction of the RN (Registered Nurse) or Provider
- Appropriate use and documentation of unit or organizational level standing orders.
Additional Job Description
Required Minimum Training and Education: Requirements include one of the following: High school diploma, GED, or one year experience in related area of medical practice as RMA, EMT, medic, CMA or PCT.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Required: Current BLS. Expectation to complete certification for ASOP Orthopedic Tech within one year of hire. Preferred but not required Athletic trainer, certification from (AMT) American Medical Technologist or (AAMA) American Association of Medical Assistants or Military trained with appropriate military certification.
Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
