Job Description Summary

The Grants & Research Business Data Analyst III reports to the MUSC Health Grants and Research Director as part of the Office of Academic Integration, a team dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare in South Carolina through innovation, research, and collaboration.

This position provides financial, analytical, and operational support to the Grants and Research Office, helping to inform strategy, ensure compliance, and drive performance improvement. Under indirect supervision, the analyst develops and maintains a comprehensive analytics program, designing dashboards, reports, and data tools that transform complex information into clear, actionable insights for leadership and research teams.

The position also offers the possibility of a hybrid or remote work arrangement, based on departmental needs and candidate qualifications, while ensuring strong collaboration with MUSC Care Team Members.
Key system responsibilities and tools include Smartsheet, Tableau, Cayuse, Workday, OnCore, EPIC, and other supporting data management software. The role requires both proactive problem-solving and responsive support, consistently delivered with professionalism and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Job Description

As a collaborative contributor, the analyst participates in projects that enhance research operations, streamline award management, and improve decision-making processes across MUSC. By integrating data into intelligent business solutions, this position supports the growth of MUSC’s research and sponsored programs portfolio, directly contributing to MUSC’s mission of advancing health and transforming care.

• 25% – Develop dashboards, charts, reports, and master schedules for grants and contract deliverables; automate reminders to grant managers and team members.

• 20% – Develop and maintain a master award summary database containing key tracking metrics for the Grants and Research Office.

• 15% – Generate inventories of provider agreement contracts, conduct level-of-effort analyses, and build financial compensation projection models using historical data and sponsored project resource allocations.

• 10% – Assist the GCA Financial Grants Administrator with automating sponsored award invoices, tracking payments, and preparing executive summaries for RHN Chief Medical Officers and Chief Financial Officers.

• 10% – Coordinate with principal investigators (PIs) and study teams on data collection design, quality control, data management, and reporting to meet project timelines.

• 10% – Collaborate with ORSP and OCR data analysts to share sponsored award data elements, emphasizing efficiency, fund utilization, and sponsor deliverable compliance.

• 10% – Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience: 3-5 years in business management, Research or Grants Administrative Services, and working in an academic medical center. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Preferred experience in Smartsheet, Ourday, Tableau, grants, and successful track record working with other team members to develop strategic solutions to consolidating data from various platforms.
