Job Description Summary

The Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will serve as a strategic partner to the top leaders at MUSC, providing expert HR guidance and support to drive organizational effectiveness. The Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration, will partner with Corporate and Administration leaders to effectively drive people strategy within the unit. The Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration serves as a trusted partner to the organization, collaborating closely with Corporate and Administration leaders to provide strategic leadership consultation and a talent-focused perspective on key organizational objectives, issues, and imperatives.

As a key member of the new enterprise-side HR department, reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this position will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering optimal and consistent HR services to all MUSC employees. The new enterprise HR department supports five key customer segments: the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA), the Medical University of South Carolina (University), the Regional Health Network Physicians (RHN MCP), Medical University of South Carolina Physicians (MUSC-P), and corporate and administrative functions. The Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will support their assigned customer group. As a member of the enterprise-wide HR leadership team and the strategic people advisor for Corporate and Administration, the Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will partner with enterprise leaders as a trusted partner for all strategic people-related topics.

The Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will play a pivotal role in the strategic and organizational development of people related strategies for Corporate and Administration. By maintaining a strong awareness of both internal dynamics and external trends, the Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will collaborate with senior leaders to develop comprehensive people strategies, encompassing recruitment, benefits, compensation, and turnover and retention strategies. Additionally, the Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will engage in discussions around reporting and people analytics, leveraging insights generated by Centers of Expertise (COEs) to inform decision-making and trigger necessary actions. This role will also assist leaders with workforce planning, facilitating conversations about future staffing models, and partner with senior leaders and the Talent COE to craft targeted recruitment and retention strategies for specific workforce segments and roles. Utilizing data-driven insights, the Executive Director, HRBP-Corporate and Administration will drive decisions and solutions that align with the organization’s strategic goals.

20% Collaborate with senior leadership to understand business goals and challenges, providing strategic HR insights and solutions that align with organizational objectives.

20% Partner with top leaders to identify leadership development needs, design and implement programs that enhance leadership capabilities, and support succession planning initiatives.

15% Drive, shape, and lead the talent agenda for the business segment, aligned with the organization strategy.

15% Lead change management efforts in collaboration with senior leaders, ensuring effective communication and support during organizational transitions.

15% Work closely with leadership to identify talent needs, develop strategies for talent acquisition, and implement performance management processes that drive accountability and engagement.

15% Utilize HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making, track progress on HR initiatives, and measure the impact of HR programs on organizational performance.

Job Specifications

Education: Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred

Work Experience: 12 years progressive work experience and 6 years management experience in Human Resources; Work Experience with a large academic health system is preferred.

Certifications: SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in Workday. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs. Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. In-depth understanding of current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in employee relations. High level of discretion, integrity, and ethical judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.
