Job Description Summary
The 340B Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in ensuring compliant, timely, and accurate handling of medications procured through the 340B Drug Pricing Program for shipment. This individual will be responsible for maintaining inventory integrity, preparing orders, ensuring chain-of-custody documentation, and complying with 340B regulatory and organizational standards. You will maintain program compliance, collaborate with various stakeholders to identify areas of improvement, and optimize cost savings while promoting access to affordable medications.Product Handling & Inventory Coordination
• Receive, store, and manage 340B-purchased products in accordance with hospital pharmacy procedures and 340B guidelines.
• Maintain proper storage conditions (temperature, security, etc.) and ensure appropriate inventory rotation (FIFO, expiration checks).
• Track product movement and maintain accurate documentation for internal inventory reconciliation and audit readiness.
Fulfillment & Shipment
• Coordinate the preparation, packaging, and labeling of 340B products for shipment to designated sites.
• Verify all outgoing shipments for accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with 340B procurement tracking requirements.
• Communicate with shipping vendors to schedule pickups and ensure secure delivery and receipt confirmation.
• Maintain records of shipped products, including dates, quantities, destinations, and chain-of-custody documentation.
Compliance & Documentation
• Communicates supply issues, problems or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel
• Ensure all processes adhere to HRSA 340B requirements and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure compliance with DSCSA standards.
• Document all transactions in inventory management systems and assist in routine audits and inventory reviews.
• Report discrepancies or issues with inventory or shipping immediately to the 340B Director.
• Gather and organize financial documents for project analysis.
• Assumes responsibility for inventory management: this includes documenting all transactions in inventory management systems and assist in routine audits and inventory reviews.
Collaboration & Communication
• Work closely with pharmacy staff, 340B analysts, and third-party partners to ensure smooth coordination and issue resolution.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to improve process efficiency, compliance, and logistics.
• Support 340B education and training efforts for peers as needed.

Job Description
Education: High School Degree or Equivalent
Work Experience: 1 year
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP)is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:
- Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
- New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
- New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
