Job Description Summary

This is a full-time tenure-track position as an Educator in the Graduate Practice Program within the MUSC College of Nursing focused on education and facilitation of students through the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP) scholarly project, from scientific underpinnings and problem identification, through analysis and dissemination of results via a poster presentation and submitted manuscript . The qualified candidate is expected to support the college's teaching mission through didactic teaching in the MSN and DNP Programs.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications: Earned Doctor of Nursing Practice degree or PhD with experience in quality improvement (QI), evidenced-based practice, program implementation/evaluation, and/or policy. Nurse Executive DNP candidates must have experience in QI. Successful candidates will have effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and abilities.

Preferred qualifications: The preferred candidate will have an earned DNP or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, and demonstrated evidence of commitment to professional scholarship. Demonstrated evidence of prior teaching experience, including experience with or interest in quality improvement, evidenced-based practice, program implementation/evaluation, and/or policy, focusing on student-centric learning. Experience in graduate online teaching methods is preferred. However, the motivated candidate without teaching experience who meets the educational requirements will be considered. It is recommended that the candidate is a practicing APRN. As an APRN they should hold active state licensure and national certification with at least two years of APRN practice experience in primary care or related settings.

Formal Accountability: Reports to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs

Responsibilities:
a) Facilitate an asynchronous online teaching and learning environment
b) Implement innovative, competency based online teaching strategies
c) Implement curriculum as part of a team and participate in ongoing and annual curriculum reviews and changes that support contemporary trends and requirements in graduate education.
d) Lead or work on faculty team(s) to develop and modify academic courses to ensure ongoing quality improvement and mapping of the AACN Essentials for Nursing Education.
e) Assume the role of Course Coordinator and other duties as assigned
f) Maintain communication with course coordinators, faculty colleagues, and administrators
g) If candidate is an APRN, engage in professional practice in primary care or a related field as part of the faculty contract, ensuring continued national certification. Clinical responsibilities and practice site arrangements may be established in collaboration with the CON Office of Practice and negotiated with affiliated practice partners.
h) Maintain APRN credentials, licensure, and national certifications required to practice as an APRN
i) Maintain a record of scholarship through dissemination, presentations, and publications that are consistent with the college appointment, promotion, and tenure (APT) guidelines
j) Facilitate DNP scholarly project work as assigned
k) Attend course, program, and college meetings in person or via web-based technology.
l) Adhere to MUSC College of Nursing policies
m) Maintain proficiency as an educator and clinician
