Job Description Summary

The Administrator, MUSC Health Strategic Venture Operations plays a critical role in aligning MUSC Health’s strategic investments with the organization's operational and growth goals, delivering value through disciplined execution, and maintaining alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
The Administrator is responsible for performance management, operational oversight, execution infrastructure, and cross-functional coordination of MUSC Health’s strategic investment portfolio.
Working in close partnership with the Operations, Finance, Legal, Strategy, and Integration teams, the Administrator leads the enterprise’s strategic venture function by establishing governance, tracking impact, ensuring appropriate resource allocation, and driving accountability. This leader supports the full lifecycle of ventures — from diligence to post-investment oversight but does not lead deal sourcing. Additionally, this role will manage investment funds, oversee fund managers, advisors, executives in residence (EIRs) and other roles to ensure optimal financial performance and alignment with strategic objectives.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Portfolio Management – 35%

Key Tasks:

  • Lead tracking and monitoring of financial, operational, and strategic performance across the investment portfolio
  • Partner with Fund management, performance management and Finance to define, document, and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Coordinate and lead regular reviews to assess performance, escalate risks, and identify improvement opportunities

Success Criteria:

  • Quarterly reports with integrated KPIs for ≥90% of investments
  • Defined value realization goals and documented ROI expectations for all active investments
  • Corrective action plans in place for all flagged underperforming entities within 30 days

2. Operations – 25%

Key Tasks:

  • Lead operations of MUSC Health Strategic Ventures, including venture onboarding, documentation, and reporting
  • Develop and refine tools and infrastructure to support post-investment operations/processes
  • Maintain a current inventory of active ventures and their operational milestones

Success Criteria:

  • Operational playbook developed and reviewed annually
  • 100% of active ventures tracked with current documentation and dashboards
  • Venture onboarding and integration process standardized and adopted across the portfolio

3. Cross-Functional Integration – 15%

Key Tasks:

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Fund Management, Legal, Finance, Health Solutions, Strategy, Integration) to support investment alignment
  • Ensure coordinated resource deployment and onboarding for new and existing ventures
  • Facilitate collaboration across departments to enable smooth operational handoffs

Success Criteria:

  • Monthly working sessions with key partners to review operations / integration support
  • Shared service model defined and implemented across portfolio
  • High satisfaction ratings from functional partners and stakeholders

4. Governance & Stakeholder Engagement – 15%

Key Tasks:

  • Manage governance operations for investment oversight, including Mainsail Executive Leadership Council and relevant boards
  • Coordinate oversight and investment committee meetings preparation, documentation, and follow-up
  • Act as liaison between MUSC Health and portfolio entities on administrative and operational matters

Success Criteria:

  • On-time delivery of diligence materials, action logs, and meeting support
  • No missed governance deliverables or documentation gaps
  • Strong feedback from internal and external stakeholders on governance processes

5. Team Leadership & Culture – 5%

Key Tasks:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team supporting Strategic Ventures operations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Manage performance evaluations, goal setting, and development planning

Success Criteria:

  • 100% of team members with current annual performance and development plans
  • Improvement in team engagement scores year-over-year
  • Clear succession and development planning in place

6. Other Duties as Assigned – 5%

Key Tasks:

  • Support strategic initiatives, special projects, or enterprise priorities related to venture operations
  • Serve on committees or workgroups as needed to represent MUSC Health Strategic Ventures
  • Provide executive briefings, ad hoc reports, or presentations at the request of leadership

Success Criteria:

  • Responsive and timely execution of special projects
  • Recognized contributions to enterprise-wide initiatives beyond primary role
  • Executive satisfaction with deliverables

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, and 10 years of progressive experience including 8 years in management/leadership roles.
