Perform various lab assays as ordered by a M.D. in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, and MUSCP-PC/MUSCP regulations
Ensure accurate calibration, quality control, cleaning, and scheduled maintenance of lab equipment as required by CLIA, this lab, and instrument manufacturer is performed, documented and/or submitted as scheduled
Provide and maintain documentation of all lab results and remedial actions, communicating information as appropriate, and assist with the accessioning process.
Maintain medical supplies in accordance with cost effective parameters established by this lab
Attend in services and meetings and participate in committees and continuing education as requested
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education: Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology. Experience: None. Certification: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) or equivalent. If not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: ASCP certified (preferred) or board eligible or equivalent.
Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
