Job Description
The IS Manager, Portfolio Execution, is responsible for ensuring consistent and successful execution of Information Systems priority projects across all internal areas, including Community Connect customers. The role integrates with the Enterprise Project Management Office [ePMO] to align priorities, processes, and methodologies across all departments within the IS team. This position is accountable for the systems, structures, and processes that ensure effective strategic alignment of projects, prioritization, value management, and benefit realization, all while supporting MUSC’s growth initiatives.
The IS Manager, Portfolio Execution, will drive project standardization and alignment, in collaboration with the ePMO, to ensure consistent intake, management, and closure processes are followed across the IS team and with external customers. This role supports agile strategic planning, aligning interdependencies between projects and initiatives while proactively addressing risks and barriers across the portfolio. As an enterprise focused position, the Manager will collaborate across healthcare technology domains and engage with executive audiences to drive organizational objectives. The Manager will maintain a customer centric approach, with experience in developing and executing statement of work-based projects, driving rigor and delivering impactful outcomes in partnership with team members.
Job duties:
Manage and lead a team of technical business analysts, project managers, and project coordinators, ensuring successful project delivery across the portfolio.
Oversee and monitor IS projects, providing guidance and serving as an escalation point when needed to ensure project success.
Work with the ePMO to ensure successful delivery of IS enterprise projects.
Direct matrixed teams across the IS department to ensure adherence to best practices in project execution methodology and drive continuous improvement.
Define, implement, and refine project and portfolio management methodologies.
Lead efforts to manage and improve the internal project intake process, in alignment with existing ePMO processes.
Ensure the successful execution of projects for MUSC’s Community Connect customers, as well as new implementations, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
Collaborate with the MUSC ServiceNow team to maintain and enhance the Strategic Portfolio Management application, optimizing its use for IS end users.
Work with the IS senior leadership team to understand and define the strategic direction, ensuring the project portfolio aligns with internal organizational objectives.
Partner with service delivery teams to ensure the effective dispositioning of non-project work, and address process opportunities for improvement where necessary.
Additional Job Description
Required Education/Skills/Work Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, healthcare, management information systems or related field or equivalent work experience.
Ten (10) years demonstrated experience in healthcare technology, project management, and/or system implementation. Previous leadership preferred within a complex, matrixed environment.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, coupled with strong presentation and communication abilities.
Knowledge of standard project management methodologies and best practices with ability to apply theory practically based on situation.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
