Job Description Summary
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the PhD in Nursing Science Program. We seek a highly motivated individual committed to advancing nursing or health science through research, teaching, and mentorship. The ideal candidate will contribute to the program’s mission by developing or sustaining a strong program of research, teaching core PhD coursework, mentoring doctoral students, and engaging in scholarly activities. Candidates must have a record of scholarly productivity and will continue to advance their research and scholarship in this role. PhD Program faculty collaborate to ensure equitable teaching, mentorship of doctoral students, and evaluation of student outcomes. Core courses include theoretical foundations of nursing science, application of theory to research, qualitative and quantitative research methods, advanced study design, measurement & instrumentation, intervention development, and statistics. Service, such as participation in college or university committees, community engagement, or professional organizations, is an integral part of the faculty role and is an expectation in the academic and professional missions of the College of Nursing.We welcome candidates at all career stages, including early-career scholars with a well-articulated research trajectory and the potential for securing external funding. Applicants with PhDs in nursing or related scientific disciplines with research expertise and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration are encouraged to apply. Job Description
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
• PhD in nursing or related scientific discipline required
• R.N. license (eligible for licensure in South Carolina) or active clinical licensure preferred
• Record of peer-reviewed publications, funding support, and a focused program of research with potential for NIH funding
• Experience with PhD-level student teaching (including online programs) and mentorship
